Our summer camp

Dear Counsellor,
I am looking forward to our summer camp too. I believe that it will be great. A lot of activities make the day more lovely and enjoyable.
I think a day trip to the lake would be better because we can go swimming and we can go paddling with a kayak. I believe that summer isn’t the perfect period to climb to the top of a mountain.
Also, I agree that we could have swimming lessons in the afternoon because lots of children want to go to the beach in the summer but they can’t swim and I think this is very dangerous. So these lessons could be an opportunity for them.
For lunch, you can prepare food which children love like burgers, pasta, fried potatoes and sausages.
Hope my ideas help,
Angeliki

The broken pot

In China, an old woman every day used to carry water from a well, a long way to home. She had two pots hanging on a pole across her neck. One of the pots was perfect but the other was cracked. The perfect pot carried every day the whole portion of the water, but the cracked one was always half full at the end of her long walk. This was happening every day and at the end of the way, the perfect pot was very proud of carrying all the water home. It felt ashamed because it could do less than it had been made to do.
One day the pot spoke to the old woman and said “I am ashamed because my crack doesn’t allow me carrying full water at home. I apologise”. The old woman smiled and kindly answered that it didn’t matter, because she always knew about the defect of the pot.”Have you noticed that there are beautiful flowers on your side along the path, but hot from the other side?” she asked.
“While I knew the water is leaking of your crack, I planted some flowers on the ground. So as we keep going along the path you allow the flowers to have some water. It doesn’t matter that you arrive home half full, because you water the beautiful flowers. So you are not useless”.

MORAL=Nobody is perfect. But it is important to turn out our defeats to be good.

The four candles

There were four candles, slowly burned their whisper almost could be heard in the darkness.
The first candle was heard to say “I am peace! unfortunately people can’t manage to keep me. The world is full of anger. Always there is a war on earth. Everyday people pass their time arguing and fighting nobody can keep me lit” and the flame of the candle blew out
The second candle said “I am faith, unfortunately, people have lost their faith. So, it doesn’t matter if I got blow out” and after these words, a breeze blew the candle’s flame.
The third candle was sad. It said “I am love. Unfortunately people don’t love each other any more. They don’t even love themselves. They can’t understand how important love is. They are so busy that they forget to take care of their nearest people. I can’t stand burning”. After these words, it’s frame softly blew out.
Then a voice was heard in the darkness.”Why aren’t you burning? you are supposed to stay till the end” it was the fourth candle speaking. “I am hope. While I am burning, I can light all the other candles”. So peace, faith and love started to lit again.
The flame of Hope should never go out of our heart. Only with hope we can live in peace, with faith and love.

Hectic pace of modern life

In present times, people are more likely to feel pressure and anxiety. It all starts when you don’t find time for yourself and you start to force yourself into a routine so you can cope with the everyday tensity. But that it isn’t a solution and you have sooner or later to deal with reality.

At first, you have to identify the cause that makes you feel stressed and put a stop to it. It is wise to take a break from your daily routine and enforce yourself in aim to change the way you live your life. It is possible to avert stress by embrace a different kind of lifestyle, for example, if you exercise daily you take out all the bad energy and tension you have. Not only that, but a healthy routine acquires a healthy diet and sleep program. All the efforts you will put on it, it is going to grand you a healthy inner self.

The pressure we feel is still going to increase if we don’t change the way we think. If you are searching a way to cope with the daily pressure, you have probably to defy your identity, by that I mean to ask yourself who are you and who you want to be? If the pressure comes from your work or your daily routine, you will have to change not only your habits but your life. It seems to everyone quitting your present life is something difficult and not even a choice. But your inner peace is way more important than your fears.

Having consistency in your life is important for your mental and physical health. It is our choice what path we will follow and it is in our hands to break free if that needs to.

Happy mothers day

Like every year, Mother’s Day is an important day since the mother can spend more time with her child. Like every year, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. Mother’s Day was founded in the 20th century by the American Women’s Movement. This time of year on Sunday, all kids make a card or sweet flowers or other things and give them to their moms. This day was established in honour of mothers to quit their jobs for a while and spend some time with their families.

Like salt

Once upon a time, there was a king who had three daughters. One day the king asked his daughters to tell him how much they loved him. The first one said that she loved him as much as gold and the king liked the answer. The second daughter told that she loved him as much as the sun and he liked her answer, as well. The last daughter told him that she loved him like salt and the answer displeased her father. The king got very mad.”How could you love me as much as something so common and cheap, that everyone, even poor people, could have? You don’t deserve to live with me” He said and forced her to go away.
She left the palace and she lived happily with her husband when one day the king stopped at their house to have rest during a trip. The couple welcomed the king and did their best satisfy him, preparing a meal. The hostess ordered not to put any salt in the food. When the king started his meal the food war absolutely unsalted, but when he asked for some salt their refuse to give. The king got angry:” How do you refuse to give a king something so important?” he said. Then his daughter uncovered her face and she said:” Oh my king! You someday let your loved daughter go away because she told you that she loved you like salt”.
Then the king hugged his daughter and asked her to forgive him for his mistake.

Dragon tales(part 10)REAL LIFE DRAGONS

Nowadays people don’t believe in dragons. However, there are some creatures on earth that their shape and behaviour reminds dragons.
1. Komodo dragons: They are found on the island Komodo in Indonesia. They are the heaviest lizards on earth, with a big body, short legs and muscular tails. They are aggressive, their saliva is toxic and their bite can cause the immediate death of the victim.
2.Flying dragons: They live in tropical forests in Asia. They have a flap of skin on each side of their body, like a membrane. They jump between the trees.
3.Black Dragon-fish: It lives in the deep sea of the Atlantic Ocean.
4.Seadragons: They are not fish, they are seahorses with bright red colour, looking like small dragons.
5.Dragon-snake: In Indonesia and Malaysia can be found the Dragonsnake a black snake covered with hard scales. It eats mostly frogs and they hunt at night.
6.Bearded Dragons: In Australia. These lizards puff out their throats and they look like having a beard, made of hard scales. They change the colour of their skin. During the warm day, they absorb heat in their skin, so they stay warm through the cold night.
7. Pink dragon millipedes: It has got many legs. It’s no longer than 3cm. and it smells like almonds because of the poison it has.
Maybe there are more real-life dragons but I don’t know them all.

Home education

Education means a lot for a person, it is all about you Character, the way you think and the way you approach life in general. In the latest years, most of the parents prefer homeschooling their children. In my belief teaching in your home, it is a reasonable choice but like always we should see the two sides of the facts.

Before I started writing this report I preferred the idea of school, but after I did my research I clearly believe that home education isn’t a bad idea at all. First of all, we need to see the way that educational system works and from my point of view, schools don’t have the amount of time children need in order to endorse and nurture the way I think they should. Children need time to play and experience different things in order to increase their intelligence. Bring in your mind memories you have when you were attending school, as I remember I didn’t like school, I didn’t have any interest and no one really helped to find one, I was attending school because I had to. Most of the kids are exhausted and experience lack for interest in anything that has to do with school. So as I see it homeschool is an opportunity for kids to get to know the world and themselves.

In order to understand the difference between home education and education in school, we need to understand children and their feelings. Is better to read and write about it? Or to experience something in order to learn how it works, that is what homeschooling gives to you. The biggest advantage about home education is the way that works, you get to choose your program, the time and place you can learn, you get to experience how the things you learn work in practice and children actually have time to play. On the other hand, many people talk about the disadvantages homeschooling has, for example, they believe that children don’t make any friends and don’t learn how to teamwork. But that is just a fear many people have, the latest years’ schools are actually providing different activities that children who are homeschooling can participate. In my belief home education needs to get an upgrade in our minds.

Education is the start of everything, you can take it from your own home or the schools, it is a choice everyone can make. Homeschool is a different way that gives you the opportunity to think differently and to get knowledge from a different aspect!
