THE BEST HOLIDAYS I HAVE EVER HAD

The best holiday i always have is when i visit my father’s place Trikala. Me and my family every summer visit grandparents and spend most of the time with them. I am always  happy  to spend my summer location with my father’s parents.The place is very nice. Grandfather takes me for tracking and other mountain activities with his dogs.Grandmother prepares our favourite meals every time.

Last summer was the best i have ever had.My sister,brother and i spend more than two months with our grandparents.So we had plenty of time to do interesting things with them.We visited the monasteries  of Meteora , we went for swimming in the man-made lake of Plastiras. We also went for camping with some friends,on the prairies of Pertouli. We went for tracking on the mountains,cycling and other sport activities in the big athletic park, in Trikala. It was very nice that i met all my friends and old classmates and we had a good time each other. But the best part ever was when my cousin Paris traveled from Lesvos to be with us for a week.

I hope this summer vocation will be as good as last years.We have interesting plans!

A special place for me

Hey Sam,

 

It’s my pleasure to help you. A special place for me is where scouts gather, it’s a near the docks or you can say next to the football field.

 

When you approach it, it looks like a small wooden cabin and a white container near ACS, surrounded by some green aluminium fences.

 

For me it doesn’t look like this, its two buildings fool of memories that will keep creating new ones. It’s a place that I can say that my life began. The reason that I’m saying that is because this place is where I met and made my best friends if I hadn’t decided to go to scouts I wouldn’t have met them and my life would have been a lot different without them right now.

Is homeschooling better than school

Some parents teach their children at home rather than sending them to school. Having your parent as a teacher can be awkward, but also you will feel lonely because you won’t go to school so you cant make friends from there. Moreover, some people say that a parent won’t do the same job with a real teacher and sometimes this will make the lesson harder and slower than the one with a real teacher.

 

Besides, what is important in life is making friends and that is difficult in this situation. you see from school almost all the friends we have come from there, because of all the hours we spend every day with them. Being in your house alone rather at school can cost you a lot(as we see). You can also make friends from other activities but the kids there probably won’t accept that you’re not going to school.

 

the most important thing in the world you can say is you have a job. In our days you cant find a job without a college degree and you can’t have one unless you’ve finished college, but if you don’t go high school you can’t have a degree for college. So if you don’t go to school you don’t have a job.

I am writing to apply for the position in your camp that was advertised in yesterdays collage News. I am interested in this job because I like to work with children.

 

I am twenty years old and I am studying to be a doctor, more specific a medical examiner. Also, I have a good command of English.

 

I have work experience in this area, when I was younger I went to scouts and I was in the same position as you have requested, and I know a lot about games and sports. I’m sure I’ll be good at this job because of my experience and because I’m creative, patient, energetic and always happy.

 

I’d like to attend an interview. I’ll be available any day you want at afternoons. I look forward to hearing from you.

I WISH MY TEACHER KNOWN

I’m almost 13 years old.I have a great family, i live in a nice neighborhood of Mitilini, i go to a school that i like and a have a few good friends.My parents are both doctors and because of their job they have to stay out of home many hours even for a couple of days.Me and my younger sister and brother stay at home sometimes i have to look after them.All in our family love and help eatch other. Fortunately we don’t have serius problems as health or financial difficulties.But this is for now.Since i was 6 years old things sometimes were different when my parent had to work at Athens our grandparents had to take care of us. So we,the children, had to spend more time in Trikala with my father parent’s or in Lesvos with my mother’s family.We had a very good time with our grandparents and cousins but sometimes i missed my parents very much.And the most difficult part is that i had to change school almost every year and have new friends from the beginning.Now i think that those little problems were the reason that in our family there is love, carelessness, confidence and the belief that we are one by the other even when there is distance between us .Our family is strong and mature. Now i’m lucky that i have good friends everywhere.

TROY

Troy is the epic historical film made in 2004, which is about the Trojan war. The battle between the Greek army of the king of Troy, Priam, after his youngest son Paris, grabbed his beautiful wife of king Menelaus, Queen Helen, From Sparta. After that king Menelaus with the most famous king of Greece crusade against Troy, to bring the queen back. After 10 years of war, the Greeks succeeded to win the war using the gigantic wooden horse that Odysseus, king of Ithaka, told them to build and leave to Trojans as a gift of peace. Greeks were hiding inside the horse, so at night they opened the city gates allowing their army entrance and destroy the city of Troy.
This is a good film to see, it’s an adventure. I like the costumes and the music. I like Brand Pitt in the main role of Achilles. The real wooden horse was used in the film, now is on the niolin wad of the Turkish town Canakkale, which is very near to ancient Troy. It’s one of the sightseeing of the town, as the other findings of Troy.
The only thing I don’t like watching the film is that they have changed the plot of the myth. I wish the script was closer to the myth of Achille’s death.

MOBILE LEGENDS

One of my favourite mobile games which I play every day in the last two months is “Mobile Legends”. This is a very famous online game. In this game, you can play with your friends or alone. The main goal of this game is to defeat all enemies turrets if your team destroy and the last one you win. After the fight, the game gives in the players one award. You can play a lot of mods but my favourite is Ranked because if you win a lot of times you take better and better prize. The prizes are “Warrior, Elite, Master, Grandmaster, Epic, Legend, Mythic”. Another thing that I like about this game, is the store. In the store, you can buy a lot of Heroes with battle points or diamonds. Personal my favourite character called Vale is a mage of wind and I have a high win rate with him. Also, you can buy skins for your favourite Hero. This is the Mobile Legends you should download it because is a great game to spend your free time.

The two wolves

One day an Indian boy talked with his old grandfather.”Son” the old Indian said, “there is a battle between two wolves in your heart the first wolf is bad and represents anger, jealousy, and every other negative feeling. The other wolf is good and represents happiness, peace and every other good feeling. The boy thought for a while the grandfather’s words and asked, “Which wolf wins” and the old man answered with a calm voice “The one you feed”.This is a good story. We have to think positive and let only the good feelings leading our heart. Only in this way we could be happy.

THE DEATH OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT

Alexander the Great died in June 323 Bc. After the long trips, the battles, a life full of adventure in Asia, he felt weak and he had a fever. His people were worried about him and the doctors made their best to cure the king of his illness, but after 10 days he died in Babylon.
At the last moments of his life, he asked to see his soldiers, one by one, because he wanted to thank them for being beside him. As he was about to die he said”After my death, I want the best doctors to carry my soulless body to the grave. In that way, people will understand that even the best doctors are defeated by death. I want my treasures to cover the way to my grave because I want people to see that neither they could keep you alive. I want my bare hands to be shown to everyone, so people will see that we leave this world with empty hands, as we got born. The only treasure that has been given to us is the time we live in this world”
His death gave sadness to his soldiers and deep grief to his nearest people who loved their king.
This was the end of the “lord of the world”.

Theseus the first king of Athens

Theseus is one of the most famous heroes of Ancient Greece everyone knows his story, the trip from his birth city to Athens to meet his father, king of Athens Aegeus. Everyone knows about his labours how he killed very dangerous robbers on his way to Athens. Also, he is very known because of his journey to the island of Crete, to kill Minotaur, the monster who lived in the labyrinth, under the Cretan palace. Everyone knows about his Love Ariadne, the daughter of King Minos, who helped him to escape the labyrinth after he had killed Minotaur. And at the end of the myth, we know that he forgot to change the black sails of his ship to white. So his father believing that Theseus was dead, threw himself off a cliff into the sea, which was named after him Aegean sea. Most of us already know the story above, but actually, we know less about Theseus as the first king of Athens. After the death of King Aegeus, his son became the king of the city. Then he chose a very good place to build his town and made it a famous and strong city with big walls around it. He built a palace on the fortress of Acropolis and he made the big port of Piraeus.
As a king, he was good and fair with his people and he respected Gods. He was brave and clever, even he was a tragic person from his birth until his dishonest death by the king of Skirus island.

Are old buildings a cultural heritage of one’s nation?

Every nation has its own cultural heritage, buildings and historical places. However, an existing controversial issue makes people wonder if those historic buildings are standing in the way of evolution. Many old buildings are protected by from the law because they play a big part in the nation’s history.

Firstly, it is important to maintain old buildings because they have economic value. Many of the historic buildings they are used as museums and attract different kinds of tourists. Besides that, every single historic monument plays a big part in the nation’s history and it is very important for a country to keep its landmark alive. One way to achieve that is to keep historic sites protected.

Many opponents may argue differently, for example, some people believe that new modern buildings are cheaper and way easier to construct. But that is not the case, you can’t just demolish the nation’s history. Many of those buildings are so rare and have such beautiful construction. It is wise to maintain positive in keeping history alive and don’t just rush to cross of such rare monuments.

To conclude, history and big evolutions are written in historical buildings. Each one has its own history written in the walls. It is the cultural heritage of its nation and it does identify the progress society has succeeded all this time. I firmly believe that we need to keep preserving old historic buildings.

COVID-19:Old age

Real loneliness is not what we used to call during the quarantine. Real loneliness can’t use the internet, Facebook, Viber or Skype. Real loneliness can’t write on a piece of paper or send an SMS to go out of the house. Can’t watch a movie on Netflix to pass the time. It never takes selfies and never shares on Instagram. It doesn’t use smartphones with applications never go for a walk or shopping in a supermarket. For some people, the meaning of life is a door opening, a doorbell ringing. But now, COVID-19 made that doorbell shut out. Real loneliness has wrinkles and it’s called old age. So, think! Every time we feel bored on our sofa, watching a movie eating pizza, every time we complain about those people who feel alone.Those people who have grown others, who have given them their best they could.Those people who got forgotten and rejected much before COVID-19. But even so, they forgive. Love aged people because they carry the charge of them, show them love and kindness.
