LEWES BONFIRE

Hi Nick

Those days i couldn’t see you because i was in UK,Sussex for Lewes bonfire and i had a great time.

Firstly This event is on 5th of November and it is held in Lewes,Sussex,England. The event not only marks  Guy Fawkes Night -The date of uncovering  of the Gunpowder Plot 1605 but also commemorates the memory of the Seventeen Protestant martyrs from the burned at the stake for their faith during Marian Persecutions

Lewes is hometo the largest and most celebrated of the festivities in the Sussex Bonfire tradition. There are seven societes putting six separate proccesions and firework displays throughout Lewes on 5th of November. As well as this 25-30 societes from all around the Sussex come to Lewes on the fifth to march the streets. This can mean up to 5.000 people taking part in the celebrations ,and up to 80.000 spectators attending in the country market town with a population of just over 17.000.

I hope that next year i will get you to see the event with me bye.

An amazing treasure

Hi Rafaelia

I’m writing to tell you my news. My family and I went to the beach last month. The weather was still warm and sunny, so we couldn’t resist taking a swim. While I was diving, I saw something strange at the bottom of the sea. I took a deep breath and I dived. I lifted it up and I went to the sore to show it to my dad. He told me that this was an old, big shell. Can you believe it?

Write back soon,

Spooky Festival

Hi Mark,                                                                                                         I write to tell you about an amazing spooky festival that I attended last Saturday. At my school we decided to do a celebration for halloween to raise money for our school trip in the end of the year. The entry cost 8 euros per person. From 11am to 7pm, we had the best time of our lives. The festival included many activities and costume and dance contests. You could see zombies, ghosts, skeletons, vampires and witches. I dressed up as a scary raven and I took the third place! The decorations were amazing and scary to death! Jack-o’- lanterns, broomsticks, candles, spiders and cobwebs! The girls of my class had done a great job! There was a lot of food like pizza, burgers, caramelised apples, marshmallows. There were also a lot of drinks like cola and juice. The best part was  when we watched our teachers having fun with us! The truth is, they helped us a lot to organise and prepare this festival. An activity that I enjoyed very much was the scary storytelling. Although I was terrified, it was amazing!! The DJ was very good and made the atmosphere spookier. The festival had a great success. We raised almost 1000 euros! I wish you were there to celebrate with me!
Tell me your news.

Bye, Anastasios.

Lewes Bonfire Night

Lewes Bonfire, or Bonfire for short, describes a set of celebrations held in the town of Lewes, Sussex, England, that constitute the United Kingdom’s largest and most famous Bonfire Night festivities, with Lewes being called the bonfire capital of the world. It is celebrated at the 5th of November and many people people take part in it from all around the world. There are around 5.000 locals and 80.000 visitors

Between 1555 and 1557, seventeen Protestants known as the ‘Lewes Martyrs’ were burned at the stake during the reign of the Catholic Queen Mary I, and their legend was soon absorbed into the Lewes Bonfire Night Tradition.

Before the bonfires there is a huge parade of locals in costumes and marching bands. Usually the number of bonfires and firework displays is 7. When you are there you can eat toffee apples burgers and even baked potatoes.

In conclusion it is a really nice celebration and I highly recommend visiting Lewes and attending at the event.

STORIES WANTED

When i walked into the shopping mall i was in a good mood and looking forward to a great day shopping with my friends.

While we were walking across the mall my friend saw a very big shop that called <VIDEOSHOP> and one of my friends said that he wanted to see what it sells so we got inside the shop. When we got inside a young man that worked there told us about the shop and he said to us that the shop was selling everything we wanted so i got suprised and i ask if the shop was selling any type of videogame. The young man said that the shop hade very videogame so he saw to me some.

After we finished shopping we went to the cashier to pay for our things and when i asked them for pay the cashier said to me that he will send the things to our homes. Then we said ok and left the shop. After a few days i got a message that my delivery got declined so i got angry and headed for the shop, when i went to the mall the shop was missing and a random person said to me that the shop was owned by a thief that gets money by say to people that he will deliver the things that they buy to their homes and he never delivers them.

This was a lesson for me to never trust anyone without know the shop first

an email

Ηey Panos
I send you this email because I want to tell you about cultural celebrations in various countries that are based on legends.
Firstly I want to tell you about Halloween. The countries that celebrated Halloween is: Canada, the United States, Scotland, Mexico, Ireland, Belgium Austria, and the Netherlands.
The legend says that in the period of ancient Celtis, on the 1st of November the souls of the dead go into their home. People dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to scare the bad souls.
Nowadays on the 31st of October, these countries celebrated Halloween. Kids are dressed in scary costumes and they go to the houses and they say treat or trick. If the householder says treat he gives to kids candies and if he said trick, kids do a trick on his house.
I recommend this celebration because is sth unique and kids enjoy it.
I hope that I help to your exercise.

Yours
Theodore

Bonfire Night!!

Hi Steve,

Nearly I visited the Bonfire festival. Maybe it was the best festival of my life.

It has a lot of fireworks and some wooden thinks that was into flames, and it was fantastic.

This festival being every year for a different local events. This year it wasto welcome the summer.

This celebration has a lot of activities and stores. For example there was a stores that you can buy some thinks like candles and there are to burn it into the night. The activities are to burn some woods with a bow and it was my favorite but it was and an another one that you had to blow up fireworks with one hand.

My feelings for that experience there are just positive because I had the time of my life!
