Useful expressions for the speaking Paper

B1 Preliminary Useful expressions

Part 1: General Questions

  • Introducing Themselves:
  • “My name is [Name], and I am [age] years old.”
    • “I live in [Location] with my [family members/roommates].”
  • Talking About Daily Life:
  • “I usually get to school by [mode of transport].”
    • “On a typical day, I [what they do after school].”

Part 2: Speaking about Photographs

  • Describing a Photo:
  • “In this photo, I see [mention the people, place, objects].”
    • “The person is [action] which looks like [what it suggests about the activity or the person].”
  • Giving Opinions:
  • “This picture makes me feel [emotion] because [reason].”
    • “I think [part of the photo] is especially interesting because [reason].”

Part 3: Discussing a Situation

  • Making Suggestions:
  • “For the school trip, I think visiting [place] would be great because [reason].”
    • “Maybe we could try [activity] since it seems [adjective].”
  • Agreeing and Disagreeing:
  • “I agree with you because [reason].”
    • “That sounds good, but what about [alternative suggestion]?”

Part 4: Extended Discussion
